Vernia Kathryn Carroll

Vernia Kathryn Carroll, age 79, of Ilsley, KY, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Madisonville Health & Rahabilitation, Madisonville, KY. Mrs. Carroll was born on October 23, 1940 in Lyon County, Kentucky to the late Herbert Byron Gates and Carrie Catherine Wicks Gates. She was a seamstress and was employed for a number of years at Ottenheimer Manufacturing, and she additionally worked as a private seamstress creating articles of clothing and home draperies. She was a member of the Union Temple Church.



Mrs. Carroll is survived by her husband of 62 years, William Russell Carroll of Ilsley, KY; daughter, Felicia (Charlie) Willett of Dawson Springs, KY; granddaughters, Mariah (Ted) Webb of Dawson Springs, KY and Whitley (Vinnie) Grace of Pembroke, KY; grandsons, Zackery Willett of Dawson Springs, KY, Travis (Brooklyn) Willett of Alabama and Cody McBride of Crofton, KY; and seven great grandchildren



Preceding Mrs. Carroll in death are her parents; daughter, Rusty McBride; two sisters, Frances Olene Gates and Gracie Pearl Duvall; and seven brothers, Norman Earl “Squirrely” Gates, G.W. Gates, Bill Gates, James Gates, Herbert Gates, Jr., Howard R. Gates and Odis P. Gates.



In compliance with health and public safety directives and the Governor of Kentucky’s Executive Order, a private service will be held Monday, May 18, 2020 at Rosedale Cemetery, Dawson Springs, KY with Rev. David Hoard officiating.
