Shirley Ann Menser, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on September 11,2024, at Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital in Madisonville, Kentucky. Born on January 7, 1937, in Charleston, Kentucky, Shirley was a beloved figure in her community, known for her vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to family and service.

Shirley devoted her life to being a mother and homemaker, all while successfully managing various business ventures. She owned fabric stores in Dawson Springs and Providence, Kentucky, which served as hubs for creativity and community connection. In addition to her retail ventures, she was an accomplished real estate investor and owned Menser Upholstery. Her passion for education was evident in her role as a kindergarten teacher for many years, where she nurtured the young minds of her students.

A graduate of Charleston High School, Shirley demonstrated a lifelong commitment to leadership and community involvement. She proudly served as a leader of a Boy Scout Troop for many years and dedicated two decades to the Dawson Springs Museum Board, leaving a lasting impact on her local community.  Shirley was also a member of the Dawson Springs YW Club.

Shirley is survived by her three sons: Brent Menser of Dawson Springs, KY, Blake "Bo" Menser of Hanson, KY, and Dale Menser of Dawson Springs, KY. Her legacy continues through her six grandchildren: Morgan Menser, Kaitlin Menser, Lauren Menser, Magen Menser, Brad (Stashia) Menser, and Lucas Menser, as well as six great-grandchildren: Madilynn McNary, Maddox McNary, Remi Hamilton, Mariah Young, Addie Menser, and Olivia Bowles Menser. She is additionally remembered by her niece, Debbie (Dan) Shipp, and her nephew, David A. Stinnett.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Ray Millikan and Irene Holloman Millikan; her beloved husband, Glen Edward Menser, who passed away on November 3, 2013; her son, David Menser; her sister and brothe-in-law, June and J.D. Alexander; a niece, Lisa Alexander and a nephew, Johnny Stinnett.

Visitation for Shirley Ann Menser will be on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M.  and again on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 from 9:00 A.M. until the 2:00 P.M. funeral hour at at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY with  Rev. Mike Jicka officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.

Shirley Ann Menser will be remembered not only for her contributions as a mother and businesswoman but also for her kind heart and the indelible mark she left on all those fortunate enough to know her.  Her family would like to extend a profound thanks to the staff and doctors in the Critical Care Unit at Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital in Madisonville, KY.
