Sammy George Duncan, Sr.

Sammy George Duncan, Sr. passed away on June 24, 2025, at Morriston Hamblen Hospital in Morristown, Tennessee. He was born on September 19, 1942, in Caldwell County, Kentucky, to Clarence Cannell Duncan and Georgia Genevive French Duncan.

Sammy was a proud graduate of Charleston High School, class of 1959. Following his education, he made significant contributions to the textile industry as an industrial engineer, working at various plants throughout Kentucky and Tennessee, including Princeton Hosiery Mills in Princeton, KY. In addition to his career, Sammy was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Jefferson City, Tennessee. His professional achievements were matched only by his dedication to his family and his faith.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Sammy George and Donna Duncan, Jr. of Long Island, New York; four sisters, Edna Gamblin, Brenda Sue Duncan, Jane Holland, and Thressa (Kenneth) McClain, all of Madisonville, Kentucky; as well as two adoring grandchildren, Ruth Marie Duncan and Georgia Katherine Duncan.

Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Cannell Duncan and Georgia Genevive French Duncan; his beloved wife ~ Joyce Ann Duncan (date of death - June 23, 2025) and a sister, Sonya Kay McChesney.

Visitation for Sammy George Duncan, Jr. and Joyce Ann Duncan will be on Sunday, June 29, 2025 from 12:00 noon until the 2:00 P.M. funeral hour at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY with Elder Jeff Winfrey officiating. Burial will follow in McNeely Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.

Pallbearers will be: Jon Blalock, Scott Audas, Sheldon Mitchell, Chris Christensen, Hugh Ray and Greg Drake.
