Ruth Bennett Riley

Ruth Earline Bennett Riley, age 88, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville, KY. Mrs. Riley was born on July 3, 1936 in Dawson Springs, KY to the late Ollie Earl Bennett and Fairy Ellen Haley Bennett. She was a graduate of Nortonville High School and a member of First Baptist Church in Dawson Springs, KY.

Ruth began her career as a seamstress instructor for Ottenheimer Manufacturing before starting her own business, Gateway Sewing and Alterations, in Dawson Springs, KY. Ruth later became a docent at Adsmore Museum where she was able to combine her passion for art and history. She also made all the clothing she wore as a docent.

Ruth is survived by her sister and best friend ~ Euvenah “Baby” Lantrip; her brother ~ Ollie Wayne Bennett; nieces and nephews that she dearly loved ~ Shelley (Joe) Reynolds, Wayne Bennett, Matthew Lantrip and Ladonnia Sutton.

Preceding Mrs. Bennett in death were her parents; her husband ~ Dudley Riley and her baby brother ~ Larry Gene Bennett.

Visitation for Ruth Earline Bennett Riley will be Monday, May 19, 2025 at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at 3:00 PM with Rev. Johnny Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Hopkins County, KY.
