Roy McDaniel, age 89, of Princeton, KY passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Tradewater Health and Rehabilitation in Dawson Springs, KY. Mr. McDaniel was born on March 6, 1937 in Phillippy, TN to the late J.T. Brent McDaniel and Mattie Castleman McDaniel. Roy retired after working 15 years as the Maintenance Supervisor at Princeton Health & Rehab in Princeton, KY. He also worked many years at Princeton Hosiery Mills in Princeton and for the Burroughs Corporation in Detroit, MI. 

He is survived by a daughter ~ Melissa McDaniel of Dawson Springs, KY; a son and daughter-in-law ~ Rev. Jim and Linda McDaniel of Morgantown, KY; two grandchildren and their spouses ~ Cortney and Tim Brown of Hawesville, KY and Dr. Brent and Leslie McDaniel of Henderson, KY; five great-grandchildren ~ Brock, Jackson and Elizabeth McDaniel and Wyatt and Lynnlee Brown. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 65 years ~ Wanda McDaniel.

Roy and Wanda were faithful members at Northside Baptist Church in Princeton, KY for more than 50 years. Roy served as a deacon, the co-director, along with Wanda, of the Senior Adult ministry and was a beloved greeter. The McDaniels were known as gracious hostesses and loved entertaining friends and family in their home. They could usually be found sitting in their rocking chairs on their front porch. Many friends have been known to stop by for a visit and an encouraging word.

Roy was an outstanding athlete in his youth playing football, baseball and basketball. He played in a softball league well into his 50’s and later enjoyed playing golf with his friends at the Princeton Golf and Country Club.

Visitation for Mr. Roy McDaniel will be Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY and on Sunday, September 20, 2026 from 1:30 PM until the 2:30 PM funeral hour at Northside Baptist Church in Princeton, KY. Rev. Mike Boyd will officiate the service assisted by Mr. Phil VanHooser. A private service of committal will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. 

Jim McDaniel, Brent McDaniel, Brock McDaniel, Jackson McDaniel, Tim Brown and Wyatt Brown will serve as active pallbearers. Cortney Brown, Leslie McDaniel, Elizabeth McDaniel and Lynnlee Brown have been named Honorary Pallbearers.

Roy McDaniel will best be remembered for his kindness and the joy he shared with everyone who met him.
