Robert Creighton Purdy

Robert Creighton Purdy, age 88, of Madisonville, KY and formerly of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Baptist Health, Madisonville, KY. Mr. Purdy was born on October 23, 1930 in Hopkins County, KY near Dawson Springs to the late Carlie Purdy and Prycie Peyton Purdy. Mr. Purdy was a graduate of Charleston High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force and worked at the Hopkins County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office. And finally, he worked for 20 years at Austin Powder Company as a Purchasing Agent. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dawson Springs, KY.



He is survived by two daughters ~ Bobbie Sue (Paul) Crandlemire of Hopkinsville, KY, and Amy Jo Purdy of Havana, FL; one brother ~ Gayle Purdy of Dawson Springs, KY; one grandchild ~ Amy Victoria Horne; four great grandchildren ~ Caleb Ruttman, Gabriel Horne, Tommy Horne, and Makayla Ruttman.



He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of forty years ~ Martha Sue P’Poole Purdy (departed 6-7-1996); three brothers ~ Byron Purdy, Woodrow Purdy and Curtis Purdy; one sister ~ Agnes Smith; and one grandson ~ Robert Douglas “Robbie” Ruttman (departed 2-26-06).



Visitation for Mr. Robert Creighton Purdy will be Tuesday, March 12, 2019, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, KY, and from 9:00 AM until the funeral hour at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, March13, 2019 at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY with the Rev. Rick Hatley officiating. The U.S. Air Force will provide a military honor guard service prior to burial after the funeral service at Rosedale Cemetery.
