Donald C. Wilkey, age 81, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Baptist Health in Madisonville, KY. Mr. Wilkey was born on September 9, 1933 in Hopkins County, KY to the late James Clyde Wilkey and Audry Eison Wilkey. He was a 1953 graduate of Charleston High School and was a member of the Universalist Church in Beulah, KY until the closing of the church and then became a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dawson Springs, KY. He served his country in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.



Mr. Wilkey was a former member of the Dawson Springs Rotary Club and served as chairman of the Dawson Springs Housing Authority and served on the Planning and Zoning Board. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 35 years and was Post Master for the city of Dawson Springs. He was an accomplished photographer and also enjoyed wood working.



He is survived by one sister and brother-in-law ~ Mary Margaret and Joe Knight of Carmi, IL and several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law ~ Smith Wigley of Dawson Springs, KY; a special friend and medical caregiver ~ Debbie Hayes of Dawson Springs, KY; a special friend and neighbor ~ Barbara Warren of Dawson Springs, KY.



He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister ~ Janice Wigley.



Visitation for Mr. Don Wilkey will be on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY and on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 8:00 A.M. -11:00 A.M. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Beshear Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Shuck officiating. Burial will follow in New Beulah Cemetery in Beulah, KY with military rites provided by the United States Army and the Hopkins County Honor Guard.



Active Pallbearers will be Ben Prow, Steven Parker, William Adams, Lynn Farmer, Steve Scott and Jason Edwards. Honorary Pallbearers will be Smith Wigley, Joe Knight & Bob Campbell.
