Mary James “Jamie” Brantley, age 72, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2026 at her home. Mrs. Brantley was born on March 14, 1954 in Madisonville, KY to the late Ret. Captain Willian “Bill” Hargrave, II and Helen Fugate Hargrave. Jamie retired in 2014 from the Dawson Springs School System where she worked as an elementary school teacher. She was a graduate of North Hopkins High School and earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Murray State University. She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Madisonville, KY. 

Mrs. Brantley is survived her husband ~ Judge James C. “Jimmy” Brantley of Dawson Springs, KY; two sons ~ William Patrick (Michelle) Brantley of Murray, KY and James Matthew (Caroline) Brantley of Taylors, SC; her sister ~ Susanna Hargrave (Dr. Richard) Lee of Madisonville, KY; and one granddaughter ~ Jillian Anse Brantley. 

She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister ~ Sally Hargrave Broadwater. 

Visitation for Mary James “Jamie” Brantley will be on Sunday, October 4, 2026 from 1:00 PM until the memorial service hour at 3:00 PM at Beshear Funeral Home, Dawson Springs, KY with Rev. Michael Knight officiating.
