James R. Dunbar

James R. Dunbar, age 89, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2017 at Tradewater Health & Rehab in Dawson Springs, KY. Mr. Dunbar was born on July 14, 1927 in Ilsley, KY to the late Volney and Lelia Jones Dunbar. For 35 years he worked as a coal miner retiring from Island Creek Coal Company. Mr. Dunbar was of the Baptist faith.



Mr. Dunbar is survived by two daughters ~ Patti Ashby and her husband Chris of Dawson Springs, KY and Twylia Merrell and her husband Dean also of Dawson Springs, KY; a brother ~ Wayne Dunbar and his wife Clara of Mayville, NY; six grandchildren ~ Brittany Hall, Kim Davidson, Shelia Posey, Shawna Backhurst, Shelby Hamby and Macy Merrell; and thirteen great-grandchildren.



Preceding Mr. Dunbar in death were his parents; his wife ~ Dorothy Dunbar; a daughter ~ Phyllis Ann Christianson and a sister ~ Willa Dean Burris.



Visitation for Mr. James Rufus Dunbar will be on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Howton and Rev. Jackie Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, Kentucky.
