Gerald Duane Oliver, Sr., age 82, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Oliver was born on July 22, 1934 in Dalton, KY to the late Felix Clinton and Odie Lou Smith Oliver. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 – 1959 and retired from the FAA where he worked as an air traffic controller. Mr. Oliver was a member of Walnut Grove Family Worship Center in Dawson Springs, KY. He was a Kentucky Colonel.
Mr. Oliver is survived by his wife ~ Jean Adair Burress Oliver of Dawson Springs, KY; a daughter ~ Carolyn F. (Kevin) Crough of Montana; two sons ~ Gerald D. Oliver, Jr. of Madisonville, KY and Duane Phillip Oliver; three grandchildren ~ Michael Fisher, Emily LePinnet and Gerald Duane “Jerry” Oliver, III.
Preceding Mr. Oliver in death were his parents; sisters ~ Maxine Oliver and Glenda F. Hart and a brother ~ Glenward Oliver.
Visitation for Mr. Gerald Duane Oliver, Sr. will be on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 9:00 A.M. until the 2:00 funeral hour at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Beshear Funeral Home with Rev. Donnie Howton officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Church Cemetery in Princeton, Kentucky. Military Rites will be provided by the United States Air Force.
Active Pallbearers will be Zach Stevens, Phillip Bruce, Donald Stevens, Darrell Collins, Jerry Oliver and Michael Fisher. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gayle Purdy and Noah Fisher.
