Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of George C. Sharp, age 75, on Saturday, July 4, 2026. George was born on February 3, 1951 to the late Allen and Artie Sharp. He was a lifelong resident and familiar face in the Charleston and Dawson Springs communities. During his most recent hospital stay, George accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

George was a true country boy who loved life, wide open spaces and was happiest anywhere under the open sky. An avid outdoorsman, George spent his best days coon hunting on crisp Autumn nights, casting a line into his favorite fishing holes and tracking down history while arrowhead hunting in freshly plowed fields. Whether he was camping, riding horses through the woods or tearing up trails on a four-wheeler, he felt right at home in nature. For George, the best parts of life were simple: sitting around a campfire, sharing stories and hanging out with his friends. He possessed a generous spirit, an easy smile and a knack for making sure everyone had a good time. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of sharing a trail, a hunt or a laugh with him.

George is survived by two daughters ~ Julie Sharp of Nebo, KY and Tammy Hutchison of Madisonville, KY; a step-daughter ~ Sarah Hillman of Princeton, KY; a sister ~ Linda Stanley of St. Charles, KY; a brother ~ Allen Ray Sharp of Madisonville, KY; four grandchildren ~ Jason (Brittany) Hutchison, Jr., Dawson (Kammeron) Spence, Heaven Spence and Alexus Bivins; three great-grandchildren ~ Jacob Daniel Bivins, Lachlan Hutchinson, Hadley Spence and another great-grandson on the way. He is also survived by a tight-knit circle of friends, nieces, nephews and extended family members across Hopkins County and in New Orleans, LA.

He was preceded in death by his parents ~ Allen and Artie Sharp; a sister ~ Kathy Bobenko and four brothers ~ Johnny Sharp, Donnie Sharp, Ronnie Sharp and Billy Sharp.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation for George C. Sharp on Thursday, July 9, 2026 from 1:00 PM until the 3:00 PM funeral hour at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs, KY with Elder Jeff Winfrey and Sister Diane Oakley officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, KY.

Pallbearers will be: Jason Hutchison, Jr., Dawson Spence, Jerry Patterson, Mike Cotton, Augusta Hallum and David Cunningham.
