Charles Carlton Clawson, age 82, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Ridgewood Terrace Health & Rehabilitation Center, Madisonville, KY. Mr. Clawson was born on January 20, 1935 in Hartford, KY to the late Ralph Eugene Clawson and Ella Smith Clawson. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education from Murray State University after being a 1953 graduate of Dawson Springs High School. He taught Special Education for 27 years, and retired from Caldwell County Schools on January 1, 1996. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
On Easter Sunday, 1952, Mr. Clawson became a member of the First Christian Church of Dawson Springs. Upon becoming an Elder in the church, he later served as a lay minister for several churches including the Ilsley Christian Church, the First Christian Church in Providence, and the Christian Church of Beech Grove in McClean County.
Mr. Clawson is survived by a niece ~ Donna Kramer Waller of Dayton, Ohio, a great niece ~ Wendy Klausing of Carmel, IN and three cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister ~ Ella Jean Clawson Wilson and a nephew ~ James Eugene “Gene” Wilson.
Visitation for Mr. Charles Carlton Clawson will be on Saturday, October 14, 2017 from 9:00 AM until the funeral hour at 11:00 AM at the First Christian Church in Dawson Springs with Elder Wanda Capps of the First Christian Church of Dawson Springs and Elder Raybern Bratcher of the Ilsley Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at the Clear Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Ohio County.
Active Pallbearers include: Greg Copeland, Ronnie Young, Brandon Laffoon, Tyler Merrell, Frankie Purdy and Kendall Lanham.
