Obituary

Artie Mae Robards Thompson passed away peacefully at her residence on July 24, 2026, at the age of 75. She was born on December 19, 1950, in Charleston, Kentucky,  to the late Hobart Robards and Velma Kingery Tapp Robards.  She was a 1968 graduate of West Hopkins High School and also received her Associate's Degree from Henderson Community College. Mrs. Thompson was a member of Chapel Hill Methodist Church in Henderson, KY.  Artie worked many years for the United States Postal Service.  She also worked as a hair dresser in Dawson Springs, KY and for Dr. Mark Allen in Henderson, KY.  

Survivors include her husband of 55 years ~ Michael David Thompson of Henderson, KY; two sons ~ Michael (Amanda) Thompson, II of Henderson and Jon Thompson of Evansville, IN; her granddaughter ~ Harper Josephine Thompson; two sisters ~ Mary Buntin of Dawson Springs, KY and Wanda Perkins of Madisonville, KY; and her brother ~ Douglas Tapp of Dawson Springs, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters ~ Pearl O'Saile and Generia Robards and her brother ~ David Charles "D.C." Robards.

Services to honor and celebrate Artie’s life will be held at Beshear Funeral Home, 201 N Main St, Dawson Springs, KY 42408. Family and friends are invited to visitation on Tuesday, July 29, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and again on Wednesday, July 30, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow on Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., also at Beshear Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Burk officiating. Burial will follow at New Beulah Cemetery in Beulah, Kentucky.

Pallbearers will be:  Wayne Reddish, Daniel Goodaker, Jason Skovira, Dillon Goodaker and Scott Goodaker.
