Linda "Joann" Edwards

Linda “JoAnn” Edwards, age 84, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020 at her residence. Mrs. Edwards was born on December 12, 1935 in Dawson Springs, KY to the late Eura Franklin and Jessie Hutto Franklin. She was a 1954 graduate of Dawson Springs High School and Purdue University where she earned a degree in Business Management. She worked for ten years with the “Post Tribute”, a large Northwest Indiana newspaper, and for approximately thirty years until her retirement she worked with US Steel Corporation where she worked in the Training Division for the company with management positions in several locations in the United States. She enjoyed being affiliated with several organizations including: Junior Achievement of Northwest Indiana, the US Steel Supervisor’s Club, Past President and founder of the Battle Ground Indiana Garden Club, the Greater Lafayette Indiana Historical Society, The YW Club of Dawson Springs for which she was a past president, the Dawson Springs Historic Commission and the Dawson Springs Museum & Art Center. Personally, she enjoyed traveling, gardening, fishing and spending time with her grandchildren.



Mrs. Edwards is survived by three daughters including Brenda (Ron) Propes of Delphi, IN, Dana (Tom) Rittel of Plymouth, IN, and Delana (Steve) Robbins of Delphi, IN; ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and a special friend of hers and her family, Trumon Hicks.



She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband of 56 years ~ James “Ray” Edwards; two sisters, Evelyn Faircloth, Doris Haire, and two infant brothers.



In compliance with health and public safety directives and the Governor of Kentucky’s Executive Order, a private graveside service will be held Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Rosedale Cemetery with Rev. Kathy Redden officiating.



Mrs. Edward’s service will be “streamed live” on Beshear Funeral Home Facebook beginning at 2:00 PM. (To view: “Google” beshearfuneralhomefacebook and select “videos” among the menu options.)



Expressions of sympathy may take the form of making a “memorial donation” to: “The Dawson Springs Museum & Art Center”, P.O. Box 107, Dawson Springs, KY 42408; or, Preserve Darby House, c/o P.O. Box 345, Dawson Springs, KY 42408.
