James Dwight Bruce

August 16, 1954 — March 24, 2020

James Dwight Bruce, age 65, of Dawson Springs, KY passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at his residence. He was born on August 16, 1954 in Caldwell County, KY to the James Bruce and Linda Orange Bruce Grisham. Mr. Bruce graduated from Dawson Springs High School in 1972. He worked for 31 years as a UMWA Coal Miner working 21 years with Peabody Coal and 10 years with Highland Coal. He was a member of the Dayspring Assembly.



Mr. Bruce is survived by his wife, Jenny Bruce of Dawson Springs, KY; one daughter ~ Brandy Wiser of Lebanon, KY; one son ~ Greg (Shanon) Simons of Nashville, TN; one brother ~ Phillip (Pat) Bruce of Dawson Springs, KY; two sisters ~ Ruth Anne Patterson and Janice (Tony) Moore of Dawson Springs, KY; two grandchildren ~ Travis Wiser and Maddie Wiser.



Preceding Mr. Bruce in death is his mother, Linda Grisham, step father ~ Charles Grisham, and sister ~ Lisa Brown.



Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the governmental required social distancing, there will be a private visitation and private service and burial for James Dwight Bruce with Rev. Kathy Redden and Elder Jeff Winfrey officiating. A private burial will be at Piney Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Wayne Simpson, Travis Wiser, Daniel Wiser, Jerry Bruce, Kevin Bruce and Robert Patterson.



Expressions of sympathy may take the form of leaving a “virtual gift” in Dwight’s name at beshearfuneralhome.com. On Friday before 2:00 PM, friends may call Beshear Funeral Home at 270-797-5165 and the funeral home will “sign the visitor’s book” for you. Gifts are welcome.
