Ione Hendrix

February 16, 1945 — March 23, 2020

Ione Hendrix, age 75, of Charleston, KY passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2020 at her residence. Mrs. Hendrix was born February 16, 1945 in Mannington, KY to the late Andrew Riley Winters and Mevline Elizabeth Powell. She noted that among her greatest accomplishments was raising four wonderful children, playing softball with her three girls for over 13 years, joining the Charleston Volunteer Fire Department on September 1, 1993 and becoming a certified firefighter on October 23, 2000. She loved attending her church, Unity in Christ Church, being a part of the Antique Car Club, her Bingo Buddies and Domino Friends, and painting at Pennyrile.



Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law ~ Anita Ann (Jeff) Summers, April Hendrix (Tim) Cullen, and Taresa Gail (Robert II) Linton; one son and daughter-in-law ~ Jesse Wayne (Sherry) Hendrix all of Charleston, KY, nine grandchildren ~ Christopher Summers, Cody Summers, Travis Hendrix, Christopher Cullen, Thomas Cunningham, Wade Hendrix, Destiny Hendrix, Magen Faulk, and Ryan Linton; ten great-grandchildren ~ Khloe Summers, Jerimiah Cullen, Canaan Cullen, Carter Cullen, Taylor Cullen, Travis Hendrix, Jr., Tori Cunningham, Jessa Hendrix, Jay Hendrix and Moxley Faulk.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband ~ J.W. Hendrix (4-1-14), three brothers, Carlos Andrew Winters, Homer Eugene Winters and Leon Winters.



Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the governmental required social distancing, there will be a private visitation and private service and burial for Ione Hendrix on Wednesday, March 25, 2020 with Rev. Brian Richardson officiating. A private burial will be at Dunn Cemetery.

Pallbearers include her grandsons: Travis Hendrix, Christopher Summers, Thomas Cunningham, Chris Cullen, Wade Hendrix, Cody Summers and Ryan Linton. A public memorial service will be held at a later date.



Expressions of sympathy may take the form of leaving a “virtual gift” in Ione’s name at beshearfuneralhome.com. On Wednesday friends may call Beshear Funeral Home at 270-797-5165 and the funeral home will “sign the visitor’s book” for you. Gifts and donations are welcomed.



The service is planning to be “web-cast”.
