Charles Ray Nichols

Charles Ray Nichols, age 83, of Dawson Springs, KY, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Nichols was born on April 30, 1934 in Dawson Springs, KY to the late Denver Nichols, Sr. and Bulah Cansler Nichols. He was a 1952 graduate of Dawson Springs High School and played on the basketball team at Murray State University. Mr. Nichols worked for 14 years in maintenance for the Hopkins County Board of Education and was a retired UMWA coal miner. He was a member and Elder at the Dawson Springs Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)



Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife of 65 years ~ Dana Morris Nichols of Dawson Springs, KY; three daughters ~ Kathy Lynn Nichols of Dawson Springs, KY, Lisa Nichols Higgins of Dawson Springs, KY, Sherri Lee Nichols (Micki Rush) of Houston, TX; two grandchildren ~ Tiffany Nicole (Jake) Stricklin of Paducah, KY and Micah Melton of Princeton, KY; and a great-grandson ~ Charles Andrew “Charley” Stricklin.



Preceding Mr. Nichols in death were his parents; two sisters ~ Juanita Nichols Robinson and Lodema Nichols Driskell; three brothers ~ Clyde Lee Nichols, Denver Nichols, Jr. and James Earl Nichols.



Visitation for Mr. Charles Ray Nichols will be on Thursday, August 31, 2017 from 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at Dawson Springs Christian Church in Dawson Springs, KY. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. at Dawson Springs Christian Church with Rev. Linda Creason officiating. Burial will follow in Rosedale Cemetery in Dawson Springs, Kentucky.



Pallbearers will be Micah Melton, Andy Shultz, Reed Smiley, Jake Stricklin, Jim Hillerich and Wes Bugg. Honorary Pallbearer will be Chris Smiley.
